one-to-one tutorial

  • With Ness, Maisie or Katie

  • 60 minutes PLUS preparatory work and recorded feedback

  • Via Zoom

During your one-to-one tutorial, we will work closely with you, at your own pace, to inspire, develop and focus your creative practice. The tutorials are tailored to meet your individual needs. In each tutorial we will give detailed verbal feedback on your work, provide advice and set targets to help you achieve your goals.

Throughout our friendly, nurturing tutorials we will provide visual examples to help explain ideas and concepts.

Tutorials may include areas of development such as observational drawing, developing your creative voice, use of materials, character, colour, continuity, how to go from your sketchbook to a resolved illustration, editing text and image, portfolio reviews, developing cover designs, page layouts, getting ready to pitch your work and children's book career advice.

Many of our clients sign for more than one tutorial. This is ideal for you if:

You have a picture book book idea you'd like to develop visually

You want to grow your visual voice as an illustrator and find your style

If you have a long term goal or project to work on

You want to commit to growing your creative practise

If you're not sure how many tutorials you should sign up for, we will discuss your ambitions with you and advise.

Children's Fiction: Initial Editorial Package

  • With Alice

  • Includes: written editorial feedback, plus a 60 minute one to one tutorial, via Zoom (which you can record).

Initial Editorial Package

£260

This fiction package is an investment, which will give you an editorial overview of how to move your children's fiction project forward with clear professional guidance.

For this package, please submit a synopsis of your book, the first three chapters and a chapter breakdown of the whole book. Alice will use this to carefully consider the author voice, age-range for the story, the type of story, the audience and where it will sit in the market.

In the one-to-one session we will go through top-line feedback and give you actionable next steps to take your fiction story forward. Should you wish to have further sessions on the project, i.e. in-depth editorial feedback on a full manuscript, we will provide a custom quote following the initial consultation. Every story is different and a custom quote will be completely tailored to you in order to support you in achieving your goals.

"I worked with Alice on my first children's novel . . . Alice has the perfect balance of sympathetic encouragement, astute judgment . . . with her guidance I was able to take an overlong and rather rambling narrative and craft it into a tightly plotted, fast paced story."
