The FAB Prize
We are thrilled to be part of the prize package for the winners of The FAB prize. The winners of first and second place will receive a one-to-one 60 minute tutorial with an Orange Beak tutor, and the 10 shortlistees will each receive a portfolio review.
ABOUT THE FAB PRIZE
In 2017, Faber created the FAB Prize to help discover new writers and illustrators of colour. This prize is the first of its kind in the UK and alumni have gone on to release amazing books that are rich in culture and colour.
Entrants must be of Black, Asian or non-white global majority ethnic background.
Entrants must be previously unpublished. This does not include self-published authors and illustrators. Self-published entrants are eligible and encouraged to apply.
The Prize is judged by Faber’s Publisher Leah Thaxton, Faber Children’s Art Director Emma Eldridge and Faber Children’s Assistant Editor Ama Badu, who are joined by guest judges each year. The guest judges for 2025 include poet, writer and Children’s Laureate for Wales, Alex Wharton, and award-winning writer and poet, Chitra Soundar.
